Matthew D. Gumaer is a partner with the firm and has more than 25 years of experience handling professional liability matters.  Matt’s principal focus is the representation of design professionals in construction related matters, including assisting with risk management, representing clients in contract negotiations and disputes, assisting in the management of difficult on-going construction projects, as well as handling related insurance and intellectual property disputes. He has defended architects, engineers, surveyors, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals across the state in a broad range of matters including construction defects, claims coverage, professional liability, and personal injury. Matt is a frequent speaker to architects and design professionals on risk management, contract review, and project management from a legal perspective.

Matt is also regularly involved in commercial litigation across a broad range of topics and has significant experience handling products liability matters.  He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in New York State, including the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
