Steve Pesarchick attended the DRI (Defense Research Institute) National Fire Science and Litigation Seminar in Arizona on November 17th and 18th.  Steve presented to attendees a step by step approach to identify issues when faced with asbestos, the handling of these types of fire scenes, and what to consider when attempting to preserve the evidence.

Paul Mullin lectured at DRI’s 2016 Annual Meeting in October 2016. Brittany Murgallis spoke to Syracuse University students participating in the Externship Program during their Externship Seminar class.  The purpose of the panel was to share experiences as new lawyers.  The 3 person panel discussed topics like studying for the bar, career path, work assignments, work/life balance and more.  They also shared tips for preparing for the end of school and the beginning of work.
Brenna Gubala gave a presentation at the Buffalo Claims Association Education Day entitled "Municipal Liability Sidewalk and Premises Claims" on October 20th.

Daniel Cavarello and Paul Mullin attended a major municipal insurer’s 'Annual Meeting of Attorneys' to discuss trends in defending villages, cities and counties.  Attorneys from across the country met to discuss legal developments and strategies in the successful defense of municipalities.  Daniel presented to the group on issues related to employment liability, while Paul’s team won the annual golf shootout.
Paul Mullin attended a DRI (Defense Research Institute) Governmental Liability Leadership meeting at DRI's headquarters in Chicago in September. The attendees of the meeting were leaders in the governmental liability area and represented major law firms, third party administrators, insurers and self-insured entities. The leadership group discussed planning for the next two years in the area of governmental liability with DRI.

Sam Vulcano, Managing Partner of Sugarman Law Firm, LLP, has been named a "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers. Mr. Vulcano earned the 2016 Syracuse Professional Malpractice Law - Defendants Lawyer of the Year award based on his representation and defense of design professionals. Partner, Steve Pesarchick attended a Defense Research Institute (DRI) Transportation Leadership Group meeting in Chicago in June.  At the meeting the group determined the events, seminars and publications they will hold/publish over the next two years.    
Steve Davoli recently spoke to engineering firms in Syracuse and Binghamton on some of the contract clauses most relevant to their practices.  The presentation included real world case law demonstrating how a well/poorly written contract clause can effect the outcome of a legal proceeding.
