Paul V. Mullin just returned from the Defense Research Institute's (DRI) Governmental Liability Seminar in Austin, Texas. The conference drew hundreds of lawyers, government officials, and insurance professionals together to discuss current trends in governmental liability issues. The topics covered issues for local school districts, small towns, large cities, counties, states and the federal government. The conference had record attendance from various sectors of professionals who deal matters of concern to government liability. Topics included school district exposure concerns, community police roles post Ferguson, big city law enforcement from the perspective of Chicago Police Dept, and meetings of the leading municipal carriers in the country. The conference highlights were Professors Karen Blum on governmental immunity, and Erwin Chemerinsky on the Supreme Court 2015 and 2016. Then you also had the hospitality and music of Austin Texas. The conference allows professionals in governmental liability the opportunity to meet and discuss matters that confront their respective clients and share strategies to deal with them in an informal informative atmosphere.
