Practice Areas
Laura L. Spring joined Sugarman Law Firm as a partner in November, 2009. She brings to the firm over 20 years of legal experience, 15 of which have been spent as a trial attorney in Syracuse and in New York City. Her expertise is multi-faceted, built on a practice that has spanned commercial litigation, employment law and human rights disputes. In addition, she has significant experience in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights for individuals and businesses. Ms. Spring has successfully represented both employers and employees in federal and state court litigation, and in various federal and state agencies including the EEOC, State Division of Human Rights and Department of Labor. She provides strategic counsel for clients by preparing, negotiating and implementing policies and procedures based on the most current state and federal labor and employment laws. Ms. Spring also represents physicians in state disciplinary hearings and assists physicians in other legal matters.
Ms. Spring lectures extensively, specifically on themes of employment policy and practices including sexual harassment policies, employment at will, wage and hour issues, and employment benefits. She is active in my civic and philanthropic organizations including the Women's Fund of Central new York, the Central New York Chapter of the Women's Bar Association and the Syracuse Symphony Association.
Ms. Spring is currently president of the Fayetteville Free Library Board, of which she previously served as vice president, and a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Board and Secretary of the Women’s Fund of Central New York. Her professional memberships include the Onondaga County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section, Women's Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association.
A graduate of the Pace University School of Law, Ms. Spring is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut and the Northern District of New York. Ms. Spring is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo where she earned a B.A. in Art History.

Spring Presents at Women TIES
Laura Spring spoke at the Women Ties (Women Together Inspiring Entrepreneurial Sucess) meeting. She discussed "Intellectual Property Issues and Rights to Protect Your Business." Spring's lecture will help women entrepreneurs better understand the basics of trademark and copyright law, discuss why trademark protection is needed, discuss the enforcement of trademarks, and highlight the interaction with Web sites, domain names, and their protection.

Partner Laura Spring spoke at the seventh annual Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (WISE) Symposium on April 8, 2009 at the Convention Center at the Oncenter. She was a member of the panel discussion entitled "Ask the Experts: What Do I Need to Know NOW?" Spring practices employment law at Sugarman Law Firm.
