Professional Malpractice Defense Practice Group Honored
Sugarman Law Firm’s Professional Malpractice Defense practice group has distinguished itself across the Upstate New York region in both the SuperLawyers and Best Lawyers national rankings.
The firm has more 2011 SuperLawyers in this practice area (four of 13) than any other firm in Upstate New York. They are: Timothy J. Perry, James G. Stevens, Jr., Brian Sutter and Samuel M. Vulcano. The New York SuperLawyers publication features the top 5% of attorneys.
On the 2011 Best Lawyers list, the firm has been named a Tier 1 firm in the Professional Malpractice Defense category based on excellence and breadth of experience.
Additionally, Jim Stevens, Managing Partner, has been named Lawyer of the Year on the list. Just one lawyer in each practice area in each city is honored with this distinction. He received high ratings from most of his peers for his abilities, professionalism, and integrity. Sam Vulcano is also named on the Best Lawyers list. Best Lawyers is the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession.
December 10, 2011 Poushter Speaks on Tax Aspects of Leases
Partner Bruce Poushter spoke at a New York State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education seminar entitled Tax Aspects of Real Property Transactions on November 4, 2011, in Syracuse. Mr. Poushter spoke on the topic Tax Aspects of Leases. Mr. Poushter is Co-Chair of both the Business/Corporate and Commercial Real Estate departments. He is also chair of the Estate and Elder Law department.
November 16, 2011 Elbadawi Speaks at NYSBA Seminar
Partner Sam Elbadawi, Esq. served as a faculty member and spoke about jury selection at a New York State Bar Association-sponsored seminar entitled "Practical Skills - Basics of Civil Practice - The Trial" in Syracuse on November 15, 2011. Mr. Elbadawi's practice focuses on the representation of seriously injured persons.
October 20, 2011 Mullin & Klucsik to Discuss Motor Vehicle Accident Litigation
Paul V. Mullin, Esq., Partner, and Jenna W. Klucsik, Esq., Associate, have been invited by the New York State Bar Association to speak at its Fall Series of Continuing Legal Education programs for lawyers and individuals involved in civil litigation matters. The program - Motor Vehicle Accident Litigation" The Road Less Traveled - will be held November 16th in Syracuse. Mullin will discuss, Dram Shop Litigation - Proving and Disproving Liability Liability. Klucsik will discuss, Summary Judgment for the Defendant in Motor Vehicle-related Matters. Both are expected to participate in panel discussions as well.
September 27, 2011 Meet Brian Sutter, SuperLawyer
Brian Sutter (Buffalo) has been Partner since 1999. He concentrates on advising and representing licensed professional - architects, engineers, surveyors, physicians and health care providers - and regularly handling defense claims. He has additional experience managing tax matters and estate planning, school claims, general liability, insurance, personal injury claims and wrongful death cases and toxic torts. He has also been selected to act as a mediator and an aribitrator in a variety of matters. He is admitted to practice before all New York State courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.B.A. Finance) and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He is a member of the Erie County, New York State and American Bar Association and is President of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association. Brian is active in Sugarman's accredited program as a continuing education provider of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and recently lectured on the topic of Opening Statements in the Trial of a Construction Site Accident Case on behalf of the New York State Bar Association.
