Throughout over twenty-five years of practice, Ms. Sassani has distinguished herself as a skilled trial lawyer, concentrating in civil litigation, with an emphasis on construction law, products liability, transportation law, legal malpractice and insurance law. She began her legal career by joining a large general practice firm in Central New York, and later accepted the position of Managing Attorney for a major commercial insurance carrier. In 1996, she founded Sassani & Schenck, P.C., a firm dedicated to the practice of civil defense litigation. In 2014, Sassani & Schenck, P.C., was merged into the Sugarman Law Firm and Ms. Sassani became a partner at the firm.
Ms. Sassani is a former member of the Executive Committee in the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and a current member of the New York State Bar Association, Onondaga County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. She has given numerous lectures and seminars through the New York State Bar Association and other legal educational programs. Based on a peer review process, Martindale-Hubbell awarded her with the highest rating attainable (an AV rating), signifying the highest level of professional excellence.
Ms. Sassani graduated summa cum laude from New York Institute of Technology and attained her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1985. In 1986, she was admitted to the practice of law in New York, and was subsequently admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern District, Southern District and Western District of New York.
